i played tackle football today with royden guys. it was fun. even if i only was in on a handful of plays since i'm entirely out of shape. but, on our first offensive play i caught a pass from royden for a half a first-down (not quite 5 yards because we were playing where you have to get to the half-field mark for a first down). and then i got tackled by mike judo style. it was an actual judo takedown. and then yeah... i didn't get another pass thrown my way. but hey, whatever. i did get blocked and run over by ryan who's 205 lbs or so... which is almost twice my weight. but yeah, it was fun. getting tackled didn't hurt as much as i thought it would. then again, it only happened once. and i think i can only play zone because i can't run with guys, all i'm good at is chucking guys at the line. i can't even blitz really well because i'm so slow. i liken myself to ricky prohel. the oldest slowest reciever out there, except unlike ricky i don't always make the catch.

now i understand why a quarterback and a reciever need to practice. today i was trying to catch passes from evan, but i kept dropping passes. however, as soon as royden started to throw them i was catching them again.

i think i had more fun chucking guys at the line more than i did running routes. i think it's because running routes takes too much energy, but chucking guys at the line all i have to do is sit there and push guys around. especially since we were playing against some guys still in high school so they're all small and timid and yeah. it was fun. if i were in better shape it might be more fun.

i could tell i was getting ready to stop playing when my vision started to look like a water painting/dream sequence. stuff was kinda blury and spotty and everything. kinda cool, but worrisome at the same time.

and then i left to watch the colts game. it was a good game. the colts defense is really stepping it up. there's a reason why they lead the league in turn over ratio. well, one, peyton manning doesn't turn the ball over, and edgerrin james doesn't drop the rock. and neither do the recievers. so yeah, they leave the defense in a pretty good positon. plus guys like dwight freeney are able to get past all-world tackle jonathan ogden, so yeah. go-d!
