this morning oscar called me and told me and told me he quit. there was a theft investigation going on and his name and my name were "canseco-ed" in a couple of statements he found. by "canseco-ed" i mean they named names. yeah, it's my new verb.
so anyway, i was in a pretty foul mood all day because as soon as i got oscar's call i also got a voicemail that they needed me to come in early. so putting things together it seemed like i was going to be backed into a hole where they were going to try and strong arm me into admitting something. fuck that...
so i went in early and les, the store's GM, put me on the phone with the loss prevention lady who told me she was doing her own investigation. she asked me all kinds of bullshit questions like have i ever noticed people keeping receipts or asking me to hold on to them and blah blah blah. i'm guessing someone got caught holding on to receipts and then doing post-void/cash refunds on them and my name got canseco-ed some how or they were looking at me because i close on the same night as oscar who got canseco-ed.
either way, my answers were suffice to get me off the hook i think. judah came by after i was done talking to the lady and she was done talking to les and he said that he was glad that i wasn't going anywhere. so yeah... but i'm still pissed i got canseco-ed.
especially because that's one thing i don't do, i don't steal cash. from anyone. hell i don't even accept cash from my parents.
and some people from corporate were in the store today too. i was talking to one of the guys who's something like the regional district manager or some other stupid title like that. anyway, he region is hawaii and las vegas so i was making fun of him that he's got the best region. you either got the beach or the casinos, you can't go wrong.
and after work, me and carlie went to barnes and noble so i could a) look for any new draft magazines that we didn't get and b) find that cute girl that works there that's carlie's TA. nevermind why we were looking for her, we just were. but in the process, i ended up finding season two of sealab 2021 and the soundtracks for napoleon dynamite and scarface. i was so close to buying them it was sickening. especially considering how much money i've spent in the last three months.
i bought three video games, a new computer, an iPod, and a new cell phone. oh, plus i took my car in for an oil change and i ended up with a new battery, new windshield wippers, and a flushed and refilled cooling system. lets add everything up... video games were like $150-ish, computer is $600, iPod was $230 (i think), cell phone was $240, and the car was $220. that all adds up to... more than $1300. and this isn't mentioning all the minor purchases i've made... things like gas and food and poker. y'know... all the little things.
the only real upside without any negatives is that i got a raise of $.28. oooh... i get payed all of $7.55/hour now. christ that's terrible. it took me two years to get $.55 more. fucking chang ass compnay.
speaking of chang, tomorrow is Hawaii's pro day in california. hopefully elimimian runs something faster than a 4.60 fourty. after running a 4.70 at the combine, he needs a sub-4.60 to even be considered first day. i know he plays with 4.5 speed, maybe 4.55, but it's not his speed that makes him a very good corner. he's smart, he's a willing tackler, and he's just a very good cornerback. although he might be moved to safety because of his lack of speed and because he can hit. he'll either be a nickel back or a free safety. he's too small to play strong safety, but then again he's the same height as mike doss. then again, he's also 10 lbs. lighter, but he can put on that weight in the NFL... he can do man-coverage against a slot reciever no problem, but they say he's not so great in zone, which means that if he plays safety, he'll have to improve on that. i don't know... we'll see how everything works in april. which team drafts him will play a huge part on how successful he is.
god dammit, i am jonezing for football already.
