i think this is growing to becoming only a sports journal more than anything else. seriously, sports is the only thing that really compells me to write. with terible speling mite i ad.

so yesterday, michelle wie finished 2nd behind annika sorenstam. however, all the press is being given to sorenstam. i don't want to take anything away from annika because she's halfway to a grand slam which hasn't happened since 1955 or something. to win four majors is a pretty awesome thing. in the history of the lpga, there have been two players to sweep all the major tournaments in a single season, and neither of them played in seasons with four majors. so annika gets her dap from me.

however, since i found out that michelle wie finished 2nd yesterday and could find no stories about that readily available, it's seemed as if her accomplishment is being overlooked. it wasn't even discussed on around the horn at all. all they talked about was annika and how she should further continue her career, play with the men full time and continue to progress skill wise or continue to fill her resume with wins on the lpga circuit.

but pardon the interruption did a good thing, instead of talking about annika, they actually discussed what was the bigger story, annika halfway to a grand slam title or michelle wie finishing second. tony kornheiser said that the bigger story should be michelle wie's 2nd place finish, especially after juli inkster spoke out against her for getting a sponsors exemption, unless annika gets the grand slam.

so yeah, i really feel like it's good that annika is getting the good press, but michelle wie really ought to be getting more love than she is right now. i mean, she was -1 on friday, shot up to -5 on saturday and finished -8 on sunday shooting up the rankings while all the pro veterans lost shots. i mean, c'mon! an amateur finishes only three shots behind annika sorrenstam--who's been called the greatest female golfer of all time, might i add--and this is all the love she gets? y'know, never mind that juli inkster finished tied for 13th six shots off of michelle wie.

yeah... but i'm probably a little biased because i really like michelle wie.

and switching gears really quickly to college football. i'm betting $10 with the usc ryan that whatever the spread is, UH will come in under it against USC in the season opener. i mean, c'mon. like i've said before, UH has a new d-coordinator that no one's seen in more than a decade, who knows what glanville's cooked up? he's a mad man according to brett. there's UH's amazing home field advantage. USC is probably looking at this as some kind of cupcake D-IAA game. and USC lost norm chow too. but again, i'm probably just being biased her. oh well... we'll see.
