for once, my attention whore side is kinda like... "eh..."

yeah, even today, winning the state editorial article doesn't feel that great of a thing. i'm not sure why. i mean, i'm glad to have won it and all, but it just doesn't feel like that great of an achivement.

i guess it's because most people don't really give a shit about news writing except for those in news writing. even the news paper put in only a tiny blurb about it, and they sponsored it. it was burried somewhere in the middle of the Hawaii section on the bottom of the page which means that it wasn't very important. sure, kyle and hamel would have you think otherwise, but that's because they LOVE news writing and because they were the ones who sweat and bled their guts out to make this paper work this year, and for hamel, many years before this too. to people like me, it's just been a thing that i liked. okay, so i love news writing because of the people in the class and the way things are done and all, but it's not my life as kyle would like it to be. i realize that i will go on to lead a mediocre life, because statistically, thats what will become of most of us, otherwise it wouldn't be the norm.

gee, i sound really depressed right now, but i'm not. i just don't understand why kyle and hamel are THAT jazzed about it. wouldn't you expect my head to have swollen THIS big? shit, me too. but it didn't. i dont know why. i guess it's because, like i said, no one really gives a shit about news writers. most people care more about mainstream sports and big name entertainers over news writers.

blah...

i read through all the district winners and honestly, i only won because of my research. the wailua article was really well written. i mean, honestly, if it were a writting contest, taryn should've gone to the competition, and the wailua article would've beaten mine. i guess i'm just a downer right now. and i still don't understand how the mckinely picture won the state award either. it's frickin' a picture of a senior and freshman with cake and whipcream on their faces with the caption "let them eat cake!" the fuck is that? trevor's picture was better than that god dammit.

and okay, emily's feature story was toe-to-toe with the punahou one that won for the state. i personally prefered emily's article because of the topic, but i dont know, i might also be biased. and jon's water polo article was also toe-to-toe with the state winner from kamehameha.

bah... i should stop talking about this. i still don't understand all of this...

screw it already. who would've thought that winning the state thing-a-ma-shit would've made me feel like this? i must be like a fuckin' retard or something. oh well, when kyle gives me dinner, i'll probably feel better.
